A fragment of linen cloth bearing hieratic writing in black ink, the text is likely an excerpt from the 'Book of the Dead'. Mounted onto a page from a printed book, which is then mounted onto card covered in grained paper, for display in Dr Thomas Grierson's Museum at Thornhill. The mount is inscribed with a description in Dr Grierson's hand. With an object label created by George Black and Joseph Bisset at the period in which they catalogued Dr Grierson's collection.
